HI there! My name is Patricia Zentilli. I am an actress and a singer
and also, as you can see.. I paint! I have been painting and drawing
since I was very young thanks to my mother, Armgard, who always made
art supplies available to my sisters and I when we were growing up. I
paint to put out positive energy into my life. To cheer myself up, and
to remind myself that I am just a kid inside this grown up body. I paint
to “play”.
Although I am primarily an actress, I have always painted. A few years
ago I went through a period of trying too hard, worrying about what my
paintings were saying, if they were “deep” enough, then I decided (after
much frustration) to just paint what I was compelled to paint. And as
it turns out I love painting very simple, cheerful things. I have always
been drawn to simple images and colors, to things that remind me of being
a kid.
I mostly paint animals because I love animals. It seems to me almost
everyone, young or old, has a favorite animal. My paintings are one of
a kind, appeal to all ages, and what I like best about them is they make
people smile. The animals I paint are always content or innocent or curious
and playful. I like to play with unusual and whimsical combinations and
situations, for example a bird riding on a cat’s back or a cat and a
dog sailing happily in a boat together. I also like to play with unexpected
colors, for example a pink poodle or a green dog.
I love watching people choose which painting they are drawn to. I love
watching people’s eyes light up or giggle at the images I create. I hope
they bring some cheerfulness into the world and to the people who own
them.
